As we continue our inspiration for your travels this year, we explore some of the best places to visit in April. Not only does it include the Easter break, but it’s also the start of some great weather in some parts of the world. With spring and summer finally feeling in reach, it’s time to explore and book a trip to somewhere exciting!

Whether you fancy a city break to discover a new culture, or you’d rather sit back and relax, April is the perfect time of year to enjoy the beginnings of sunshine. Don’t forget to pack your favourite Bellfield Clothing, no matter where you decide to travel to next month.

Amsterdam, Netherlands

Interspersed with its famous canals, Amsterdam is a city full of surprises. From museums to vintage shops, cool bars to flower stalls, Amsterdam might be an urban destination but at times it certainly doesn’t feel like it.

Rent a bike and live like a real Amsterdammer, as you cycle your way around the many museums and galleries. Look out for the outdoor markets and don’t forget to visit the most famous attractions to really get the most out of your trip; Anne Frank Huis and Vondelpark are both a great way to while away an afternoon.

April is peak season for the city’s well-known tulips, and it’s also the month of the show-shopping King’s Day celebrations.

Lisbon, Portugal

Lisbon is a unique capital, with beautiful cobbled streets, cathedrals and ancient ruins. It was completely decimated in 1755, thanks to an 8-minute long earthquake and a tsunami, so the city you see today has been rebuilt.

April in Lisbon sees many different festivals and events, including Indie Lisboa; a 10-day event of indie documentaries and films. Peixe em Lisboa is a week-long seafood culinary experience, with many of the city’s restaurants taking part.

Spend your day visiting a 15thcentury monastery, or the Castelo de Sāo Jorge. Don’t forget to ride the wooden, vintage tram for a sightseeing trip around the city.

Crete, Greece

Crete is the southernmost island of Greece, making it one of the warmest. If you’re hoping to switch off and unwind, visiting Crete in April might be just what you’re looking for.

It’s an island steeped in mystery and culture, with historical Minoan sites and museums available to visit. Orthodox Easter is the most important religious holiday in Greece, allowing you to experience true Cretan hospitality if you happen to be there at the same time; it doesn’t always fall on the same date as the Catholic Easter weekend.

April is a great shoulder season for Crete, making it the perfect time for outdoor activities with more bearable temperatures and smaller crowds.

Marrakesh, Morocco

Marrakesh is an enchanting destination with a huge cultural influence that can be seen everywhere; from intricate paint and tilework to the artisan markets. Beautiful architecture, artwork and culinary experiences make up the heart of Marrakesh.

April sees the most pleasant temperatures with long days of sunshine, and it is a popular destination for a mini-break should that be what you’re looking for.

Explore the main square at your leisure, or walk around the Bahia Palace and uncover the beautiful sights of Marrakesh, a destination that is less than 4 hours away from the UK.
