This winter, you will no doubt hear the word ‘layering’ over and over again; and for good reason. Creating a go-to layering style will help you show off all your favourite pieces without succumbing to the cold and wet elements of the winter season.

No matter your personal style, a layered look is easy to create using just two or three staple designs from your wardrobe. So, with that in mind, we offer some insights into how you can layer your Bellfield styles perfectly to create the ultimate seasonal outfit.

The basics

To create any layered look, you first need the basics. We recommend starting with a t-shirt; one of the most fundamental items in any menswear wardrobe. A lightweight t-shirt, despite it being winter, can provide the base layer to build on.

Our Nester t-shirt is a great example, as it will look simple yet stylish when layered and also looks great on its own. With a seemingly plain design, the Nester t-shirt has striped side tape detail down each side, creating a modern design.

Alternatively, our Nelson t-shirt in burgundy adds some seasonal colour to your attire, complete with an all-over paisley print for an eye-catching detail.

The next layer

Depending on your personal style, your next layer can consist of an overshirt, jumper or even hoodie. Each can create a different finished look, with some being heavily influenced by streetwear trends and some being a timeless style, transcending the seasons.

Our Omaha check overshirt is the perfect layer over a simple t-shirt, with a tonal check print created from a brushed soft cotton twill. Overshirts are an easy way to show off both layers at once, which is particularly great if you have a slogan t-shirt.

Of course, for days when the biting wind or the rain is just too much, you may prefer a jumper or hoodie to create your second layer. While it may cover up your t-shirt, it’s an ideal way to take off and put back on layers as you go from outdoors to inside and vice versa. This can give you multiple looks with just one outfit.

Our Berger Fair Isle jumper is the ultimate seasonal style, with a navy and white print and elasticated cuffs, waist and neck. With a relaxed fit, it’s easily thrown over your t-shirt as an extra layer to shield you from the cold.

For those with a streetwear edge to their style, our Silas hoodie features a cut and sew panel design. It has all the classic features of a sports hoodie, with a drawcord hood and kangaroo pocket.

What’s more, the detail of the hoodie can still be seen under whichever jacket or coat you choose to layer over the top.

The final layer

Your final layer is your winter coat, or even a lightweight jacket depending on how many layers you’ve gone for. Here are just a couple of our favourite styles that look great with your layered look.

The Midland fur trim parka has an oversized style, making it ideal for wearing a t-shirt and jumper underneath. With all the technical features you would expect from a parka coat, there is an inner neck protector and a zip closure for when the elements are particularly woeful.

For a smarter occasions, a wool overcoat is the perfect layering piece to finish off a t-shirt and jumper or overshirt combination. Our Godin check overcoat has a subtle check pattern with a regular fit and 3-button closure.
